I have always enjoyed keeping side projects going while working on big paintings, so making jewellery seemed to me to be a natural extension of the gilded mosaic bands on my new work. My one-off brooches and pendants incorporate many of the shells, stones and Venetian glass pieces from my vast collection, but I am also using the contents of my mother’s amazing heirloom button box. Friends are also donating broken jewellery, old buttons, old china from their gardens and their beach finds to the project. Prices start at around £55 and I also offer a commission service, whereby your own precious trinkets such as old jewellery or significant coins — perhaps dating from a special year — can be incorporated to create something glittering, glamorous and precious which will be treasured forever. |
